There are many versions of the evolution and history of comfort inn, at least for me. It’s hard to say hey, that’s where it all started and where it all started. However, one finds that there are many truths hidden between the storylines. Then it’s up to you to draw conclusions.
The need to travel must spark the need for overnight places. Travelers can rest their horses, wash, eat and drink. Get a good night’s sleep before setting off on the next day’s journey. The story hints at that. Breweries used to offer travelers home-brewed beers and allow them to sleep in barns or kitchens. Comfort inn offered rooms or dorms with bathrooms or shared bathrooms, and as demand grew, rooms with bathrooms were available.
The hoteliers own strict rules about accommodating travelers. They locked the door of the inn on time, and even guests could not enter after that. Because of the difficult travel conditions, people traveled alone. Therefore, many comport inn do not allow travelers with families to stay. You must have a fixed breakfast with the server and at the shared table. However, with no other options, these comfort inn enjoy good occupancy and business.
Hotels have come a long way from the Middle Ages to the present. It undergoes tremendous development and changes in product, style, and modern hotel operations. Even the traveler has become a guest who no longer arrives on horseback; he is an upper-class traveler with new demands and expectations. These comfort inn are now full-service hotels that cater to the needs of their guests. Brands are asking for higher prices because the demand for rooms is high.
The early factors used to characterize inns, which are or at the intersection of two major roads. At city entrances or near train stations, are no longer valid. Today, anyone can find comfort inn everywhere. Downtown airports, city centers, town resorts, beaches, or tourist locations. Especially ski resorts and golf courses, or even part of a mixed development.
Since we consider inns budget hotels, offering cheap room rates and food and beverages. They attract most of the mid-market and enjoy high occupancy rates. Operating expenses for hotels are also much lower, so even lower incomes can contribute to profits. This cost-effectiveness of the product has prompted most large hotel chains to enter the hotel segment. From an investment standpoint, this is a lucrative business niche.
Some expensive hotel signs will say Hampton Inns and Suites, Fairfield by Marriott, Days Inn, and Quality Inn. The Park Inns, Sleep Inns, Holiday Inn by Inter-Continental, Premier Inns, Residence Inns, etc. The advantages of large companies launching inn brands have been many times. It provides a quality seal to inn products. It provides the opportunity to place the Inn label on the back of luxury brands. Such as city hotels, downtown hotels, luxury hotels, etc.
Today, the product development and quality of some inn hotels are as good as any luxury or five-star hotel. They have good-sized and well-appointed rooms. Two or three gourmet restaurants, bars, pubs, nightclubs, business centers, sports clubs with equipped gyms, and swimming pools. However, conference venues and construction sites are reluctant to give up the “inn” label. They fear losing the special status they enjoy. Hotels don’t want to lose their identity by drowning in the deep seas of the hotel world. A hotel is a different world. The hotel reminds you of the nostalgic time travel where the hotel developed.
